Voice acting
is it too expensive? and ways around it

As I've mentioned before voice acting has been a thing I've wanted to have for my project since it was recommended to be all the way back in the first week of the fmp, I did some research and pretty much every voice actor I found would be way too expensive to hire to read all my script, this is doubly true now as the assumed length of the script was going to be 1500 word, but it tuned out it came in at over double that at 3490 words. I could defiantly revise it down but there's no use if I couldn't get a va anyway.
That's when I started thinking, I could totally still get voice actors to read the quotes for me, as there are a lot of them and It would be nice to bring some variety to the project, so its not just me droning on. I already planned to have a Japanese va translate some of Hojo Tokimune and Takezaki Suenagas quotes into Japanese and preform them for me, I could do the same with other quotes.
ā
Another possibility came up when talking to Matt, he suggested that we could try and get either one or more than one student from the drama course to voice act parts or the whole of the script, this would be just as good as having the professional va do it as the college has a audio suite that I'd be able to use. Matt did also say that if all that were to fall through he would be whiling to record some of the script for me.

Update
As of today I decided I am actually going to go ahead and voice act the script instead of relying on someone else to do it, as when talking to Matt I said that it might be to long for people to feasibly record in college in one session, and if there were to be any mistakes I would have to go back in for another round of recording, and seeing as we only go in on Fridays right now due to Covid-19, that would be a real problem.
To be honest I kind of expected something like this to happen but I'm prepared to record all of the script myself as the re-write is now complete. I plan to do this on Monday after I've finished some more detailed documenting on other tabs of my site.

Update 2

Today I recorded and edited my final version of the script, the full recoding is on my production page, the link is to the left.
Overall I'm happy with the way it came out however there is a bit in it where you can clearly tell the voice acting changes. When recoding I tried to do it all in one sitting to ensure the acoustics were the same so it all flowed seamlessly, I think what happened was I might of simply changed how I delivered the lines.
Its not a huge thing just something I tried to avoid and I don't think it will really be noticeable to anyone but me .

Render issues
It takes too long on my pc
I've talked about this in some detail on my production tab, the rendering times on my After effects are really bad, this has been an almost constant problem since the first test scene with the pan over the world map, It would routinely take over 30 minuets to render 10 - 30 seconds of footage, needles to say this wasn't helpful when I was already behind on certain aspects of production.
I'm sure I mentioned it previously but I work by importing small sections of audio into After Effects Pre-comps and then creating the visuals over and in time to them, It's a system that has worked for me many times in previous projects, It makes it easy to transition from one clip to another in Premier, without all the layers making it over complicated.
But the render issues have basically ground my project to a snails pace, at the current rate I'll have to at the very least half the project.

I thought I'd take a second to talk about what my average timeline looks like.
ā
Most of the clips I work with are around 10 to 30seconds in length but obviously vary between them, This particular clip lasts to 18 seconds, the timeline continues to around 60 seconds but the selector will ensure it stops at 18 seconds, I always make sure to give myself some le-way at the start as well as the end so I can transition them effectively in Premier Pro.
The three off-white sections of the timeline are the audio, this is imported directly from premier pro, where I have cut up the audio to make space between sentences where I might of not left any in the original recording, these will be markers for the animations as I'd want certain things to appear when I begin to speak about them.
The adjustment layer in brown is the vignette a shadow/darkening around the sides to focuses the viewers attention on the centre of the frame, it also serves to make the whole thing a little more cinematic, this is positioned the same way in every clip to give uniformity throughout the project.
To the right is a link to the explanation on what I do in premier pro after exporting from after effects.
